Today I installed the Catalyst 13.1 driver on Arch Linux (32bit). Before I had the Catalyst 12.11 beta 11 driver installed. My video card is a Radeon HD 6670. And I must say, I am dissapointed, especially because you wrote in the release notes, that you fixed some Valve Linux game performances or so.
At the moment, TF2 is for me unplayable with the normal, standard setting I got, when starting the game the first time. The game stutters all the time. It's not a "real" stutter, I don't know, it's like, the game goes into slow motion for parts of a second then is normal and then again in this slow motion again. A weird stutter. But it makes the game unplayable. I can't react accordingly in the game, because of the constant slow downs.
In Serious Sam 3, the fps seem to be okay, but the time, frames take to render seems to be worse than before. Serious Sam 3 has a second measurement besides the fps and these red numbers indicate, that the frame render time is to high every now and then. It's not so bad like in TF2, because the game is playable, but it is worse than with the 12.11 beta 11 driver. Also in my recordings with glc (an opengl grabber, or so), I have many and hard flickers or so, tearing. Really bad tearing.
cant even run unity as they promised on this release much much disappointed
I was also using the 12.11 beta 11 on my Ubuntu 12.10 64bit and after upgrading to 13.1 I am getting even worse performance on killing floor than I had before. This is really maddening. I've been waiting for months to have an acceptable performance with catalyst Linux drivers and now it goes even worse. I truly regret to have choosen an ATI card ![]()
Same situation with 2x7950. Ubuntu 12.04, amd64 arch. Just look at the screenshot. Even with CFX enabled I've got less than 60 fps which is mindblowing. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=121625775
I have opposite experience. With 12.11 TF2 was unplayable now I got over 200 FPS with my radeon 5850
Same issue with me.
TF2 performance, SS3 and Killing Floor performance is horrible.
Massive frame drops every few seconds.
This is with the Radeon HD 7970.
For me TF2 is finally playable. Until now i had low fps with 12.11, 12.12 (all maps were slideshow-ish). But with 13.1, i can have a smooth gameplay.
Debian Testing, 3.7.3 Kernel, Xfce 4.10, on an A8-5500 APU (integrated AMD Radeon HD 7560D).
BTW, i have the Catalyst AI set to Advanced.
Same here with HD 6870.
With 13.1 I have worse performance, some times I have a drop of fps and "micro-lag".
It seems like running TF2 with a VLIW-5 based GPU gives decent performance.
GCN based cards are giving out terrible performance I'm sorry to say with Linux.
Something must be done to fix this.
I have an hd 7730m, which is a GCN based card, and (despite all the issues I have I describe in an other topic), TF2 runs perfectly (with both the intel gpu and the amd gpu). Maybe your drivers didn't installed properly or work bad with your window manager.
I use Kubuntu 12.10, kwin using opengl renderer (If I use Xrender, it doesn't work well with the amd card)
Yestedray Steam and Ubuntu updated, now I've got HUGE performance improvement in TF2. It is still unplayable, because of FPS jumps around 100-120 fps. It has to be constant 120 with fps_max 121 and refresh rate of 120 Hz.
guys i cant play guild wars 2 anymore with my hd 5550 ..fps was 30 -40 and now its 5-6 ..i tried everythink and i cant go back to an older driver. Can u help me to find older driver..maybe i can manage to install it with sweeper..
anybody not running a AMD 7950 or above should not install over 12.11 all you doing is throwing a mass of jeberish at you graphics card
Running Our Driven 2012 Operating system and a Overclocked 7950 with a 965 Phenom I can steady ring in 345 Frame bits per second I run the Club-3D 3dfx Voodoo Joker 7950
With Catalyst 13.2 beta 3, Team Fortress is now playable for me (from what I tested).
